Develop appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials and teach assigned curriculum to all students in class, with ability to use data to drive instructional decisions and provide differentiated lessons as needed.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning environment
Establish positive and effective rapport with students and create a classroom environment that is favorable to learning and personal growth
Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for lifelong learning while exhibiting those qualities themselves
Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students
Collaborate with co-workers for the purpose of improving the overall quality of instruction and student learning
Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on student academic progress and behavior through progress reports, report cards, conferences, and weekly parent communication
Provide after-school help sessions once a week for students in need of remediation and/or enrichment
Serve on various committees to ensure functionality of the school (Vertical Teams, Committees, etc.)
Participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities
Willingness to coach, lead, or assist a team or co-curricular activity
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, Master's degree preferred
At least two years of teaching experience in a lower school environment
Strong knowledge base of literacy and math instruction
Experience using multiple types of data
Working knowledge of, and experience using, emerging classroom practices regarding experiential learning
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Collaborative personality
Passion for and expertise in working with students
